UN Secretary-general Kofi Annan has called for more help for women suffering from the HIV and AIDS.

On World AIDS Day (yesterday), Annan urged countries to lay out national strategy to empower women more rights and confidence in fighting against AIDS.

The World Health Organization also issued a statement appealing countries to provide convenience for women in AIDS prevention and cure.

Government's around the world also vowed to step up the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The European Commission has announced a series of measures to control the spread of HIV and AIDS.

The Cambodian government says it will improve the social status of women in the country.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair says Britain will prioritize the fight against AIDS in Africa when it serves the rotating presidency of the G8 nations next year.

Uruguay's Ministry of Health has launched a new action plan on AIDS prevention.

Swedish government has approved the test of an AIDS vaccine.

And the United States, France, Portugal, Peru, South Africa, Sudan and Uganda have all taken measures to strengthen the prevention and control of AIDS.
