"The Return of The King" Leads Oscar Race

"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" has led the 76th Academy Awards with 11 nominations, including best picture and best director.
"Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" is a close challenger with 10 Oscar nominations.

Along with best picture and director, the nominations for "Return of the King" also include original score and song, visual effects, film editing and adapted screenplay.

The 76th Academy Awards will be handed out February 29 at the Kodak Theatre by the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. (Xue Li)
