Zidane remains best-loved French despite head-butt

According to a recent survey, French footballer Zinedine Zidane remains France's best-loved personality, despite his “head-butt” incident in the 2006 soccer World Cup final.

Zidane came first in a ranking of France's Top 50 personalities, beating ex-tennis champion Yannick Noah who came in the second place.

Zidane was shown a red card after head butting Italy’s footballer Marco Materazzi in the chest. That ensured he missed the penalty shootout that decided the match in Italy's favour.

The incident inspired an Italian designer. He has come up with sweatshirts with two stick figures depicting the incident.
