Slovenian President to Attend Boao Forum

Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek has left for China on Wednesday to attend the fifth annual Boao Forum for Asia 2006.

Drnovsek is to address the Boao Forum conference in the seaside resort Boao in south China's Hainan province, dubbed "New Opportunities for Asia: Directing Development into the Next Phase". 

Russia Not to Amend Constitution on President Terms

Speakers of the Russian parliament have announced that neither of the chambers will amend the constitution to pave the way for a third term in office for incumbent President Vladimir Putin.

The speakers made the statements in comments on the initiative by a public organization from North Ossetia which called for amending the Constitutional norm to allow the president to run for a third term. 

Oil Prices Rise Above 71 Dollars

World crude oil prices closed with record highs above 71 US dollars on the eve of U.S. energy stocks weekly report Tuesday.

Traders are still concerned about the possibilities that Iran's oil exports would halt if the United Nations imposes international sanction on Tehran for its nuclear activities. 

Survey Finds Less Wildlife on Dining Table

Chinese have been eating wild animals for centuries. However, such a tradition is changing today as most city dwellers interviewed by the latest survey on wild animal consumption said that they have gone off the creatures.

Co-sponsored by the China Wildlife Conservation Association and its partner Wildaid, a non-governmental organization from the United States, the survey found that 54 per cent of urban interviewees chose "potential health risks" as the reason for giving up the wild dishes. 

Hebei School Bans Cellphones

A school in Hebei Province has issued a new regulation, which fully bans the use of cell phones on campus.

Students caught using mobile phones risk losing the phone.
