UN Chief Urges Palestinian to Curb Terrorism

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan called on the Palestinian Authority to act against terrorism.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Annan strongly condemned the latest suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. He urges the Palestinian Authority to take a clear public stand against such unjustifiable acts of terrorism. 

AOL Ties Up with China Media Firm

AOL, the online unit of media giant Time Warner says it has formed a tie-up with China's number two media company, one of its first such pairings since it withdrew from the Chinese market in 2003.

Under their new relationship, the broadband content arm of Shanghai Media Group will provide material for a Chinese language version of AOL.com aimed at Chinese speakers in the United States. 

Sino-Russian Officials Discussed Iran Nuclear Issue

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Chinese Foreign Minister assistant on Iran's nuclear issue.

The two sides agreed during the meeting to strengthen dialogue and cooperation to work toward solving Iran's nuclear issue through negotiations and diplomacy. 

Sino-German Program to Eradicate Iodine-deficiency Disorders

A German church association and a Chinese foundation have jointly launched a five-million-yuan program to alleviate iodine deficiency disorders in northwest China.

The program is expected to benefit 144,000 newborn babies and women of child-bearing age in eight counties and cities in the Ninxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu Province.
