China Proposes Infectious Disease Control Mechanism

China has proposed the establishment of a new infectious disease control mechanism between Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation members, in an effort to strengthen technical cooperation and assistance.

China’s Deputy Minister of Health, Chen Xiaohong says that the world has witnessed about forty kinds of unknown infectious diseases during the past thirty years and that effective prevention and control has become a new common task faced by the international community. 

Countries in North Korean Talks to Meet

Officials from the six countries participating in talks on North Korean nuclear issue will meet at a private security conference in Japan next week.

U.S. Embassy spokesperson Michael Boyle says representatives from the United States, China, Japan, Russia and South and North Korea will all attend the conference. 

Iran Tests New Land-to-Sea Missile

Iran has test-fired a new medium-range land-to-sea missile Tuesday during a military maneuver held in the Persian Gulf.

The medium-range missile is capable of resisting electronic jamming systems and is equipped with remote-control and searching systems.

China Mobile Ranked 4th of World's Top 100 Most Powerful Brands

China's biggest wireless telecom operator, China Mobile, has beaten many famous international brands, including Google and IBM, placing fourth in a new ranking of the world's most powerful brands.

The ranking, named "Brandz Top 100 Most Powerful Brands", was developed by Optimor, the global brand consulting arm of marketing research firm Millward Brown.
