Beijing's mobile phone and personal handy phone subscribers sent more than 160 million short text messages over the National Week holiday, accoring to telecom operators.
Beijing Mobile statistics reveal an average of 2 million short messages were sent per hour on October 6, the night of the traditional Mid-autumn festival.
But the content of the short messages were very limited despite the huge volume. Many mobile phone users say they received the same message many times.
